The arena itself remains the same but it's completely straight just like Sonic 2, but there are no small rotating platforms. The area before the Amoeba Droid's boss arena uses the original Sonic 2 layout, with some more of the Nick Arcade layout below to fill in a potential bottomless pit. The modifications of the two Sub-Acts from the mobile port of Sonic 2 are also added to also compensate with the original layouts I had made. In order to skip this trap and not interact with any water below, the upper route at Sub-Act 2 has some extra geometry that leads to the final quarter of this layout. The hidden passageway in the original which skips the rising water area near the end now leads to a newly added pipe that leads to a big ring far below the rising water area. Sub-Act 2 also has Sonic 2's original layout, but the extra areas from Mania have been added. Speaking of the two drops, they are connected together, just like the layout from Sonic Mania. In the upper portion, there is a drop to the floating level geometry between the two drops. The newly added upper and lower routes in Sub-Act 1 connect with Sub-Act 2 in some way. I also added some of my own original layouts as well to try and connect with these existing layouts. The same goes with the upper portion of Sub-Act 1, just above where the big ring would be located, in which obstructions had been removed. I extended the lowest route, replacing where the big ring had been, to incorporate some parts of the Nick Arcade Prototype version of the level. I kept in the extra lower route from Mania but the only way to access it is the opened gap on the lower route where the three bubble-shooters are. Sub-Act 1 remains the same of course, with Sonic 2's layout. What I did was that I brought back the original layouts for the first and second half of the stage, in which I dub them Sub-Act 1 & Sub-Act 2. This took a month to make, trying to put almost the whole tileset together from scratch.Īs you would expect, the level's basis is from Sonic Mania. However, I made it much bigger, about five or ten times. At first glance, this seems to look like the Sonic Mania version of Chemical Plant Zone Act 1.
